Sarah Cheng-De Winne – Delightfully Soulful
The word – “WOW” comes to our minds when we first heard Sarah Cheng-De Winne sing. A well-known singer in the local music scene, we were blown away by her cover of “Loving You”. How best to showcase this local powerhouse? We think that only by listening to her will you understand why we are in awe. Take some time to listen to these carefully selected songs that we think are the best from her collection.
One of Sarah’s many performances; we think that Sarah is best singing classics. Be amazed by her cover of Minnie Riperton’s ‘Loving You’. Some other events that Sarah performed at - LIVE! Singapore 2010, Mosaic Music Festival 2011, Singapore Wine & Jazz Festival 2010, Esplanade’s Celebrate December (2009 & 2010) and Timbre's LIVE (2010). She was also the backup singer for singer-songwriter Corrinne May’s local concerts – most recently to a 7000-strong crowd Gardens by the Bay’s opening celebrations in June 2012. The list goes on.
Classics – “Loving You”
Known for her ‘delightfully soulful’ voice, dynamic performances and signature blend of pop, soul and jazz; Sarah released her debut-full length album <Brand New> under Warner Music Singapore. From that album, the single <Happy Ever After> was used for the promotion of the telemovie < Love…And Other Bad Habits> by Mediacorp Toggle.sg. We think that it is a huge step for her as a signed artiste!
Award Winning – “Diagonal Rain” & “Love-Shape Void”
On 19 March 2013, Sarah was also nominated for the 12th Independent Music Awards for the R&B/ Soul and Contemporary Christian/Gospel categories. We are proud that this Singaporean songstress was nominated on an international level and we already consider her a winner! The songs that Sarah was nominated for were Diagonal Rain for R&B/Soul and Love-Shape Void for Contemporary Christian/Gospel.
