balance both school and rehearsals, but at the end of the day, no matter how difficult it was, they loved what they were doing.”

Opening acts for Copeland and Jayesslee
Perhaps it was a stroke of luck or just pure talent, Zahidah had the chance to perform alongside international artistes Copeland and Jayesslee as part of their opening acts.
She explains that she has been listening to Copeland since she was a teenager and thus meeting them backstage and being part of their Singaporean gig was quite the experience.
On the other hand, opening for Jayesslee was heart-warming.
The Next Big Thing
Asked about her take on winning ‘The Next Big Thing’, she says that she had absolutely no expectations at all.
“I really wanted to challenge myself to see how far I can go not only as a performer, but as a songwriter as well,” she says. “Getting to play during the finals was already such a blessing, but to win the entire thing was really shocking.” She adds.
“It still blows my mind when I look at the trophy, which is really huge!”
How Does It Feel
“But I’ve always wanted to challenge myself and get out of my comfort zone so I started venturing about the emotional aspects of these stories,” she adds, stating that it was difficult initially but a cathartic yet fun experience.
