MADRID - The inspiration for Ailanto's Spring/Summer 2013 collection at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Madrid was the Italian architect Gio Ponti and the house he designed in 1956 for the Planchart family in the hills of Venezuela. Brothers Aitor and Inaki Munzo said this stands out for the architect, because of the harmony of the architecture but also the vegetation growing around it. To reflect this contrast of plant life with structured architecture, the designers developed a number of patterns from marble and diamonds to drawings of cockatoos and toucans. Leafy prints and floral are also part of the collection.
