A week or two ago, McDonalds Japan had a special promotion. For three Saturdays in a row, they would sell a 1000 yen burger for a day. This is the Quarter Pounder Jewelry series. And yes, it’s extravagent, but in the interest of uh, trying new stuff, I tried the black diamond burger.
Behold the burger, which came in a really cool bag!
So on Saturday, I decided to skip breakfast in favour of a really really early lunch.
I heard that they sold out pretty quickly, but since I was going to a mall that opens only at 10am, I wasn’t that worried.
And I was right – I got there around 11 and there wasn’t even a queue.
And for those of you that don’t believe that a burger from Macdonald’s can cost so much,
Here’s the receipt:

Imagine how excited I was!
I think the gold wrap is a nice touch. This is one shiny burger, although you can’t eat the shiny bits, sadly.
This is a burger that, sadly doesn’t contain any truffles, but is supposed to be covered in a special truffle sauce. And lots of mushrooms. And cheese. Which is really my sort of burger!
I’m actually kind of glad this is a one-off thing, because McDonalds here is expensive enough as it is now. This is a delicious burger, but at 1000 yen, this is definitely not fast food.
If you want to read more about the burger, Japan Australia did a review of the first burger (Golden Ring Burger) here: http://japan-australia.blogspot.jp/2013/07/quarter-pounder-jewelry-premium-burgers.html
